Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has hailed Hezbollah’s Resistance as a source of pride for Lebanon and the Islamic world during meetings with the group’s delegation at the funeral ceremonies held for the late Leader, Martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Speaking during the multi-day commemorations, Araghchi stated that Iran is actively working toward achieving an end to the war in Lebanon and an end to occupation, in line with Article 1 of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.
In a separate meeting with a delegation from the Hamas movement, also in attendance for the funeral rites, Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran will continue its support for the Palestinian cause.
The funeral prayers for Sayyed Khamenei and members of his family were held Sunday morning at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall in Tehran. The service was led by Sheikh Jafar Subhani, with millions of attendees participating.
Since Friday, senior religious and political figures, official delegations, and military leaders from various countries have arrived in Iran to join the mourning ceremonies. Vast crowds have gathered to pay their final respects to the late leader.
In an unprecedented move, the funeral proceedings are scheduled to continue for six consecutive days, spanning multiple locations across Iran and including stops in Iraq. According to the official timeline, following the conclusion of the farewell rites in Tehran, Sayyed Khamenei will be transferred to the city of Qom, then to the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala. The body will ultimately be returned to his birthplace and laid to rest on July 9 at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that representatives from more than 70 countries had traveled to Iran to participate in the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, saying that the turnout was a lasting milestone in Iran's international relations.
"We are pleased to welcome representatives from more than 70 countries who chose to participate in honoring our martyred leader, including our loyal Arab brothers," Araghchi said in a post on X.
He added that the historic commemoration "will remain an enduring memory in the course of Iran's shared relations" with the participating countries.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry expressed its appreciation for the foreign guests and international delegations attending the funeral ceremonies.
In a statement, the Ministry said the participating officials and delegations had "stood on the right side of history" by expressing solidarity with Iran despite external pressure and threats aimed at discouraging their attendance.
The Ministry thanked the visiting delegations for taking part in a historic occasion honoring the late leader.
